Do You Know the Language of Pain?

Pain is information.

You like information, right?

Information is helpful, right?

Then why do you avoid pain like the plague.

Probably because it's uncomfortable.

But it's uncomfortable on purpose.

On purpose?

Yes, on purpose.

Pain is trying to tell you something

And it's best to listen up.

Pain often overwhelms us.

What's modeled for us is pain avoidance.

So we too do avoidance.

See one.

Do one.

Teach one.

We pass this pain avoidance on.

And there are many negative consequences

We have lost the language.

We hear noise, not the words.

But it doesn't have to be all noise and unpleasantries.

We just need to change our relationship to pain.

We just need to learn its language

And heed its advice - like we know to not touch a hot stove.

The pain is there to inform, to help.
